Time flies when you are having fun….

I don’t know about you, but with the exception of lounging beside a roaring fire, I hate the winter. I can’t stand the cold weather. I don’t like to have to bundle up. Nor do I like having to wear a coat, hat or gloves. And the worst part…I think… is the snow. I can’t stand it. Sure, it is pretty to look at, on the first day that is. After that it gets grimy, dirty and only causes your commute to be that much worse than before. And this winter, where I live, it has proven to be very snowy already… And January is not even over yet!

The only way I can think to make the winter a little better is to be so busy that they days just fly by. So, that is exactly what my husband, Marc, and I have done for the last few weeks. I feel like we have lived in a blur. And, now, we are that much closer to spring (or possibly that is just wishful thinking?)

The month started off with a friend visiting us for a few days. The day he checked out of our house ~~hotel~~, two other couples arrived for a few days. During each and every one of these visits, we enjoyed some amazing dinners, great wine, and of course lots of laughs.

The following week, Marc had a trade show to attend in Manhattan. Since there were dinners and cocktail parties each night that I was accompanying him to, we decided to spend a few nights in New York City. Not only did it allow us a short vacation, it made my commute much easier, since I had to go to work during the days. I have to admit it was a strange feeling waking up in a hotel room and then rushing off to my office. I couldn’t decide if I felt like I was on vacation or if it felt like a regular old work day.

After our jaunt into NYC, we spent the weekend doing touch up painting in our bedroom, upstairs hallway, and closet. We are still pondering what colors we should repaint our downstairs. Marc and I love to paint, and we obsessively change our color scheme.

Monday came and Marc and I dashed off to the airport, destination Florida. We spent about a week in the sunshine state visiting my mom, family and friends. We got extremely lucky with the weather. Florida has had a cold spell like most of the US, but fortunately it passed for our arrival. We were lucky to have a string of beautiful, sunny days, with the temperatures hovering in the low 80′s. The only day where the weather was less than picture perfect was our last day, which was actually fine with me. It forced us out of the sun, and allowed me to have some quality time at the mall with my mom. The funny thing was that Marc was the only one of us to leave the mall with purchases. Go figure.

And now, as I am back at work, feverously trying to catch up, because despite how connected I try to stay while traveling, and how many emails I answer, it just never seems enough. When I return, my to do pile always just seems endless. But on the bright side, January is almost over… I can’t believe how fast this month flew by. I guess that old saying rings true. Time sure flies when you are having fun, and are busy. Unfortunately Alex, the cat, is not so thrilled of how Marc and I spent the past few weeks, but we will try and make it up to him….

I got all excited when the first flower catalog came in the mail yesterday. To me that means spring is on it's way…eventually. It takes awhile up here in Canada. LOL

It is so true that time flies when you're having fun – or busy! I got dizzy reading about your whirlwind January… We've been renovating our Summer House, so it's definitely kept us busy and I can't believe January is already coming to an end. We keep getting missed with all the big snow storms – if you're needing to get out of the snowy sight, you're welcome to come here and help paint, since you and your hubby are painting fanatics!

That's a fabulous way to spend January! The mom can't say her January has been fun…but our Annie can't either!

We won't see spring until at least May. And we can still have snow then. Aren't we lucky? Sounds like you have been having fun.

I know what you mean.. I was in Costco on Sunday and saw beach towels on display…. It made me so happy….

I got dizzy writing about it The month really did fly. The pictures on your blog were amazing… Don't laugh, if you were close, I would come over… Sadly, we really do love to paint. We walk into the hardware store, and are greeted with "don't tell me, you are painting again!" Sad, huh?

Yes, I was… I was in the Delray / Boca area…. Fortunately we arrived right after a cold spell passed and before the next cold spell arrived…

Snow in May… Poor you… I don't envy your weather….I did have a lot of fun… but now I am paying the price trying to catch up on everything….

That sounds like an awesome plan to me. Stay busy, have lots of fun, and hopefully you won't realise how nasty it is outside.

Usually in the winter I tend to just hibernate. The dog prevents that, however, so I've found myself kind of embracing the cold weather. I bought a fun touque, some stylish gloves, and with my brand new winter jacket, I feel warm and sexy when I'm out in the snow.

Okay, so only I think I look hot, but that's all that counts, right?

your January made me tired just reading about it! lol!! I actually have always found February and March to be worse than January……they are cold and dismal months…….

We have been busy with home renovations which have made January fly and thankfully they will be continuing through February so hopefully that month should fly by too….but…listen to us wanting to speed our lives up! We should want to slow them down

Poor Alex….I bet he is sooooooooo mad at you and Marc!

I love winter only as long as it takes to run our first fire… After that, I am done… Our winter started out pretty mild, but took a major turn. We have had a snow storm every week since christmas!

It was a great plan until I arrived back home Nothing like going from 80 degrees to 9 degrees in under 3 hours! I am sure you look VERY sexy!

I really did…. It was busy, but filled with lots of good times… unfortunately, now I am paying the price and trying to catch up on everything….I can't believe January is almost over either… if only it wouls stop snowing!

Imagine how I felt living it although I have no complaints… I had a great time… I hope you are not right about February and March being worse. We have had more snow this year than I can ever remember! How is everything at the house going? I love doing renovations! I know.. It is terrible that we want to fast forward time… However, I would be happy if I can speed up winter and go in slow motion in the summer… As for Alex, you are right… He is not happy with Marc and me at all!

Alex definitely was "pissed" at us…. he bounces back pretty quickly, but you can see his lingering temper if marc and I don't totally tow the line
