All I know is he had a brother and a sister (that I wanted instead of HIM…imagine!!) Would have taken his sister or brother but they didn’t like me lol.
He was being fostered by a lovely young woman who named him “Prince” she adored him. She was somewhat sad when I adopted him because she said of all of her fosters Cody was her favorite. He has been a snuggler since day one!

Alex sounds a little like Boodie – she has always been on the shy and skittish side, although she is friendly with family now. But when my human first brought her here, as a foster, it was to socialize her because she was VERY fearful of humans. My human isolated her for a week so she only had contact with her, and after she let her out, there were a lot of workers coming through the house, painting and fixing it up, and that activity actually helped her to get used to humans. My human gets the feeling that she was probably neglected, and maybe abused as a kitten.

Someone had brought her mother who was pregnant at the time in and she had her puppies at the shelter. Here from ICLW. Because we’ve only adopted one animal as a baby (all the rest were adults from rescues/shelters), we’ve only known one cat’s story. However all of our other animals (cats and dogs) have been a mystery and we can only guess based on their behavior. It breaks my heart to think that they were ever mistreated or neglected, but it’s clear that some had been. The best we can do is give them a reason to trust. It takes time, but it sounds like that’s what you did with Alex.
