“Um, do you have something you need to tell me?” I pointedly asked my fiend as we were having lunch.
“No. Why are you looking at me like that?” She replied, perplexed.
I pointed to her left hand ring finger and said, “Because of that ring you are wearing. You never told me you were even dating anyone!”
“Oh that,” she replied with a big smirk, “that’s nothing. I bought a cubic zirconia ring for myself to wear on the train. It helps keep the undesirables away.”
“Oh,” was all I was able to mutter in reply as I took a long gulp of my iced tea.
It is funny, in a way I was able to understand her logic, but I totally disagreed. Personally, I think there is nothing more special and magical than an engagement ring. Technically the ring symbolizes love, devotion and fidelity. However, I think there is more to the symbolism.
When I see an engagement ring on a woman’s finger I can almost feel her hopes and dreams for a beautiful life with the man that she loves… I can see the future she imagines for them, regardless if it is a white picket fence with five children playing in the yard, or a life spent traveling the world side by side. I sense the joy and love she is experiencing as begins her journey to her own happily ever after…
What does an engagement ring symbolize to you?
No shock that I chose an engagement ring for the cover of Dangled Carat, huh?
What better way to celebrate the publication of Dangled Carat than giving away a sterling Silver 1.3 CT Round Cubic Zirconia Solitaire Promise ring (thanks to Berricle Jewelers)and a autographed copy of the book!
This Cubic Zirconia ring is sponsored by BERRICLE.
