I am so sorry you had to deal with SS Sandy so soon after Irene. We have been very lucky here in my part of the country – this season.
In my own reflections, I’ve come across situation after situation that I stressed over or had a meltdown over in the past – and not the very distant past, either – that I wouldn’t even bat an eyelash at today. It’s amazing how we sometimes get stronger and more resilient without even realizing it or feeling it.
You’ve given me an epiphany, Hilary!

Kim – wow! I am glad I could help… that is exactly how I feel… Right before the storm I was so stressed about so many little things. I was driving myself and my husband crazy. My stomach was in knots. Then after the storm, when I really had to face difficult and stressful situations, I didn’t give my initial troubles a second thought. Sandy really gave me perspective…

Phew, the holidays were awesome for me and I’m now playing catch up with all of my lovelies. I appreciate you stopping by my little niche in Blogosphere while I was MIA. 2012 brought many challenges your way. I’m inspired by people like you who make it through the storm (literally in your case) and come out on top. I’ve always been told, “God never gives you more than you can handle.” He knows our strengths, our weaknesses, and what we need in our lives to bring things into perspective. Not that you don’t have a handle on these things, but at the same time I know the wealth of thanksgiving you must have all the same for the blessings amidst the trials. Cathy – I have never been a religious girl, so I never paid much attention to sayings like the one you wrote. But I have to admit, after living through the storm and everything, I have to agree. I do believe Marc and I were slammed for a reason. I think that we both see things a lot clearer now, and we really needed a reset on our perspective…. Have a great new year my friend!

You have been through so much, and you’re doing a great job handling it all. I was just snuggling up with my babies last night and admiring their tails and thinking of your Alex. Because of Alex, I will never take a tail for granted again!

Janet – I saw your comment last night and I read it to Marc…. It is amazing how different we look at tails now, isn’t it. We spent New Year’s Eve with Marc’s brother and his cat also had her tail amputated (a few weeks before alex, by the same doctor) so I am very used to seeing tailless felines. The next day we babysat my neighbors two cats (who have tails) and I couldn’t stop playing with the tails….they are just too darn cute…. It has been a very difficult year, and for the most part I am handling it well, although I do have days where I don’t…. You have had a very rough year too, and are doing an amazing job yourself. I hope 2013 is an amazing year for you and only good things come your way. You deserve it!
